Solid state? How Bout SOLID GREAT!!

Bullet Proof Toneologist
My latest, perhaps greatest??? Oddball score ever. A friend gave me this ugly lil beast last week. Came with the two mini tower speakers, he had told me it was a tube PA, figured it would be right up my alley. It was not, it is S.S, but being free, and having drove to get it, I picked it up and figured I would sell it off. I got home, plugged it in and pretty much dropped my jaw. Set the master volume to about 7, dime the input 1 volume and this is what comes out. It is a screamer that I have heard no SS amp come close to. The how and the why, I have no clue. But it is a proud keeper in my misfit stash. In the room with it, it is huge, full and rich, responds to every nuance of playing from clean to scream. The following clip is a quickie, I will likely record my next official tune with it. Useing my Ibanez Roadstar ( in this clip)..

Anyone else mess with these??

They pop up quite a bit, I would watch Craigslist and they are often cheap on ebay. I would imagine there are a bunch sitting in basements just looking or a home..... Had I not grabbed this one, the guy was going to throw in in the trash..... Just call me the trash man...

Re: Solid state? How Bout SOLID GREAT!!

Sounds awesome. Though you are def one of those "got the tone in the fingers" players Kev!

I'm def not a SS hater blindly, some of them sound fabulous. they are just few and far between. Those old RGs from Randall sound very good and not too dissimilar to your clip!

Re: Solid state? How Bout SOLID GREAT!!

Very cool. I might look for one of those, something funky to have around for sure.

Yeah I love the old Randalls too. Wish I never sold mine, I am a dumbass for letting it go.

Re: Solid state? How Bout SOLID GREAT!!

Smoking as usual Kev....hehe I gather that you could play through a Peavey 158 and still sound glorious!
All that aside...that is one cool sounding amp!

Re: Solid state? How Bout SOLID GREAT!!

sounds cool. I always wondered if the sears SS head would sound like that.

Re: Solid state? How Bout SOLID GREAT!!

Hey Man,

We are playing at Renegades on Hwy 13 in Burnsville on Jan 5th 9:00 start. We will open for a great southern rock band called Lam Jam. Love to say howdy!

The are very cheap, easily had for under a 100. It is the best SS I have heard, although it ain't quite as sexy as a snakeskin Randall....

Re: Solid state? How Bout SOLID GREAT!!

I meant to write RID, he posted a clip a while back. It was amazing....
