Solid vs multi-laminate neck construction

Re: Solid vs multi-laminate neck construction

I'm not convinced that glue, in the thicknesses it's used in guitar-making, has any detrimental effect on sound or sustain. After all, the glued joint is stronger than the wood.

The Sporkular One is exactly right. Glue joints will not decrease sustain -- if anything they will increase it. A proper glue joint IS stronger than the wood, and having talked to a couple of builders, having a multi-piece neck is less for looks than for increased strength and stability to prevent the neck from bowing or twisting.

x2 --- exactly!

Look up plywood

--- even if there's a very thin center strip, the concept still works (and looks awesome)
