Some Cheap Parts Guitar Projects

Put together some "practice" builds with parts I had accumulated - had a Hohner ST Scorpion with a broken potmetal trem- originally bought a Kahler for it but didn't like how the body turned out after filling the original route

Got a GFS "factory buyout" body for 20 bucks, a GFS Floyd I had picked up on sale and put in some DiMarzios I had laying around, Chopper neck and D Activator X bridge (and some generic ceramic single coil to fill the middle). Import electronics, simple with auto splits for the neck in bridge in 2 & 4

Another Cheap GFS body with the Kahler, a neck from China, Chopper neck, generic single coil, and Super 3

Cheap GFS body, San Dimas style neck from ebay, and GFS Crunchy Pats- bought a couple of the gold GFS Floyd Roses when they were on sale for 39 bucks apiece- not sure if I'd pay full price but they seem to work OK

May have already posted this one- GFS neck and body for 16.95 a piece, a used JB and some alnico single coils with Wilkinson Trem

All seem to play and sound better than I would have expected (other than some sharp fret ends on the GFS neck)

Re: Some Cheap Parts Guitar Projects

How about sustain? volume? I truly loved my chinese scalloped neck on my partscaster, but could never make it sound good. Sold the guitar. Cheap.

I absolutely love that guitar with the gold hardware! If i saw that in store I'd buy it immediately

Re: Some Cheap Parts Guitar Projects

This thread is old, but I was wondering if any of these guitars were for sale?
