Some cool stuff I did today...

Played a real 1965 Twin Reverb. :D Cool amp. Really nice condition, guy said he has had it since 1977 and never gigged with it.

Played one of Neil Youngs old acoustics. It was a one off a local luthier made for him and my tech had it. Pretty sweet guitar.

Tried Dunlop strings... they seem to buzz more (acoustically, not through the amp) than Daddarios but sound a bit better to my ears. Tighter though, feel more like 11s instead of 10s now but I like them. More full sounding maybe.... anyone have experiences with them?

Got my strat back with the bone nut. It does make a difference. Something does at least... hard to put my finger on but the guitar just feels a little more balanced tonewise and the feel is much better than it was.

Nice day so far... going to go to guitar center later I think, might look for a looper (to make my own backing tracks for my new obsession with recording hehe) and some more dunlop strings.

Re: Some cool stuff I did today...

I only use Dunlop Strings (or GHS when I run out of bass strings on short notice. I have to get the Dunlops I like special ordered). Great Stuff. I really recommend anything from their line, unless I know for sure that something is better. I gauge every pedal off of what Dunlop has going. I only use Tortex (though I really wish they would do Tortex on the grip side and Ultex on the pick side (I like the texture of Tortex with the sound of Ultex)).

Which Dunlop strings?

Old Fenders are cool, but you already knew that!

Just the standard line, 10-46 but they feel much tighter then the Daddarios I normally use.

I like dunlops stuff. I like the way huge pedals...the aqua puss and pork loin are really great and I recently got a green rhino from someone here. Should be here early next week. The strings seem good so far, my fingers are used to the tension already and they sound good. For picks, I used to use dunlop picks but I switched to Fender Heavys. They do make great stuff though.

The Swollen Pickle is the best fuzz I've ever played. Perfect sounding for even thrash metal.
