Always love seeing your guitars; these two are 'omg' awesome.

How do you set up your Floyds - floating a tiny bit or resting on the body?

Holy ****...I love your collection. The sunburst Charvel is very Strat vibe. Looks like George Lynch's ESP too. One of the collections to die for, for sure. Did you custom paint the yellow flake one?

Re: Some pics and yet another reason the Floyd Rose rocks...

orpheo...Thanks. I loved that magenta color when I was looking through the house of kolor paint chip book so I went with it. Then when I got it I put the guitar together with the planned chrome hardware and it was just blah, tried black and it was even more blah so I went for it with gold and it all came together. I'm usually not one for gold hardware but on that color it really works.

grumptruck...:lmao:

JEC...I'll post the pics of my whole shop in the next post. The bench is actually huge. It's left over from an old darkroom we had set up (notice the light box on the left of the bench to look at negatives and slides). It worked perfect as a guitar bench and storage area for parts.

Ashurbanipal...My Floyd's are always set up resting on the body dive only. I never really need to pull up or do flutter stuff. The added tonal benefit of the base of the Floyd planted on the body alone is worth losing those abilities. Plus the ability to go to drop D real fast and if I break a string the rest stay in tune is great. I actually don't use the bar all that often. I like the feel of a floyd under my hand, the added tuning stability and the tone of them....thus why I have so many.

marvelous_seven....I take that as a compliment.

verbotenco...The idea behind the relic was a '54 strat that was modded in the 80s with a floyd, a Charvel neck (to gain a 22nd fret) and a new guard with a covered hum from a Les Paul. Sort of a tossed together bar room brawler. As for paint, no I don't spray my own paint...way too toxic and I'm too picky for a home done job. I just pick the colors and deal with a few pro painters to make sure the job is done right.

Here's the newly redesigned D'Avanzo Guitars shop. Even a look in the draws to see the absurd amount of spare hardware and stuff I've somehow amassed over the years. Thanks to Duncan for those great plastic pickup boxes from all the pickups I've bought to help my OCD to keep things organized hahaha.

Sweet!

I was just thinking how clean everything is now after that pic you sent me.

Mine is still a mess!

Re: Some pics and yet another reason the Floyd Rose rocks...

Cool shop. Flip those control knobs around so the tops don't get scratched up in there. ;)

Re: Some pics and yet another reason the Floyd Rose rocks...

TheLivingDead...Thanks.

Ayrton...Yeah it was a nightmare before and it took two days to clear it out and get it to where it is now.

ErikH...That's funny you mention the knobs...they're actually upside down resting on the foam from the pickup box so they don't get scratched :D

HAHA! I was hoping you'd say that. :)

Color me curious about the new line, especially with what you listed as options available.

Re: Some pics and yet another reason the Floyd Rose rocks...

XSSIVE, where do you buy those pinup girl stickers? Any recommendations?

Re: Some pics and yet another reason the Floyd Rose rocks...

Nice shop, I'm jealous. But you need to clean up that telephone wiring.

Re: Some pics and yet another reason the Floyd Rose rocks...

ErikH...yup no way I'm letting them get all messed up. A few of them are original 80s SD Charvel brass knobs. Lots of details to iron out before I can start letting info slip about what's to come. Today I've been finalizing a body design I've had stuck in my head for years that will sort of be the signature body for the brand. Of course regular copyright free bodies like the S, T, Jazz, Solo and such will be available too.

Kramer...I got Marilyn from ebay quite a few years ago. There's loads of them on there.

King IzzO)))...Thanks. Yeah that's on the to do list. It's actually extra messy since I just rewired a few things and never cleaned up the mess after it was all working haha. Plus that's not all my doing, the cable guy (the phones, internet and computers all run through the cable company) has made a mess of that over the years adding splitters and boosters and this and that and certainly not doing it neatly.

Re: Some pics and yet another reason the Floyd Rose rocks...

Speechless as usual when it comes to Mikes work. Look how clean the shop looks, everything organized. Those vintage looking Charvel/Strats are just bada$$

Yeah, I prefer bend down only; I wish I could do this with my Ibanez but the Edge doesn't have a flat base plate, so it wouldn't rest correctly on the body, plus the neck pocket would have to be levelled. So it's got a bit of upbend but I'm ok with it. I don't use it that much either - like you, I enjoy the fel and tuning stability.

Love the swag boxes in the workshop :approve:.

Re: Some pics and yet another reason the Floyd Rose rocks...

Looks good man. I've got a design that I had drawn up ( body, neck, peghead ) 11 years ago just before I got out of guitar work that I'm getting ready to build. Along with a couple of other projects/experiments, and two Strats. One out of swamp ash, and one out of Douglas fir.

Re: Some pics and yet another reason the Floyd Rose rocks...

51501984....Thanks!

Chad...The chartreuse sparkle one is made up of a USA Charvel neck and neckplate, Schaller tuners with pearl buttons, 2pc alder body, original German Floyd with big brass block and d-tuna, DiMarzio Injector, '67, Injector pickups hooked to Bourns 250K pots with the tone modded for no-load. It's not custom shop it's custom mutt haha.

Ashurbanipal...Trust me I know the deal on the neck pockets. I've routed many of them from the USA Pro-Mod Charvel line to make the Floyds dive only. I wish they would have gotten that right from the factory like the custom shop does.

J E C....Thanks. I've had a body idea in my head for years and I just yesterday finalized tweaking it to the point I'm ready to turn it into a reality from just a mock up drawing.

desertdude....hahaha, thanks!

Re: Some pics and yet another reason the Floyd Rose rocks...

I thought those looked familiar. You had a photo of them hanging over a 3120 & 5150. I was always curious what you had on your pedal board.
