After months of playing heavy music and tone searching with electric guitars, amps and pedals I decided to just tune my resonator to Open C and jam out and man it really brings to back to your roots and helps remind you to just play with soul

Whats your main acoustic ?

I just decided recently to start picking up my acoustic again. I'm starting to prefer it to my electric, I find it to be more inspiring, in a way for playing along to some old blues tracks. It's a cheapo Yamaha FD01S, but it sounds great with a fresh set of strings. All the acoustic playing has given me some major 12 string gas :scratchch

I have a Godin 5th Ave.(best playing guitar I have), an Epi MD 100 resonator(tuned to open E), and a Yamaha acoustic/electric,(for live gigs).

Best acoustic I've ever owned and best present (from my GF last xmas), 1972 Ovation Balladeer non electric. That's the original case it's in too. The headstock Ovation logo was worn off or removed before I got it.

Fender FA-100 that i got used for like $20. Waaaaay better than the Esteban I had before.

Acoustics are one guitar where cheapness just doesnt equate to good sound like some electrics do. I have a seven hundred buck Washburn, and its pretty bad, maybe a good Duncan pickup, or maybe a good preamp like the D-tar. would bring out the best in it as opposed to the cheaper stock electronics.
although once you plug it in you can't tell much about how bad it is unplugged compared to a great acoustic, unless maybe you run it through a premium sound system,.

I love playing acoustic, and I do so quite frequently when I'm hanging out in the garage getting a buzz. My main acoustic is a Taylor 314CE, but sometimes I really enjoy sitting back and playing my Yamaha FGX412CE 12 String.

I have a Taylor 310CE that I was given. It is one of the most amazing things I have ever been gifted.

It's a 12 string I got for R1200 ($120) second hand. It's one of their higher end models though and sounds amazing (even better for the price)

Otherwise I use my cousins Walden

My baby : Gibson J-200. Sounds great unplugged, and pretty decent with those fancy Fishman guts.



Sometimes I also use a Takamine 12 string that I bought used. Made in Japan, and sounds pretty decent.

Main and only 6 string accoustic is Taylor 814CE. (I have a yamaha 12)

I tried a res for the first time at GC the other day.. was kinda cool You play those the same as a guitar right?

The funny thing is that the acoustic guitar in the house is technically my wife's, but I play it more than she does, haha. It's a Luna Muse Parlor B... like the one in the picture. It's not the best guitar in the world but it's a fun little thing to play when it behaves itself. It has a tendency to go out of tune easily and I'm not a fan of the electronics in it.

I'm currently using it to teach my students as well. I think I'll save up next month's worth of lesson payments and get a Taylor 114CE just as a workhorse guitar.

On the whole I'm not a huge Martin fan but I do love their OOO models. One of the best acoustic guitars I ever played was a 1931 OOOM. I like Taylor for the consistency but I like Seagull and sometimes Larrivee a little more. The J45 True Vintage from Gibson is unbelievably good - two of my friends own one.

I believe so. I play some folk on the side with my band, and my lead player got one because they sound so cool for folk. I told him to get a six string banjo, but he said that fingerstyle isn't the best with him, and for banjos you have to be able to roll.
