Song idea (kinda Eric Johnson?)

Hey,

I`ve recorded a sloppy thing today lol..but it shows the idea I had at least

Does it sound too much after Johnson? There´s one song he played on G3 1996 which was similiar I think...but I´m not sure what it is called :eek13:

I think you're thinking of the track Camel's Night Out? I don't know if I'm correct as I haven't heard that CD in years. I don't even know if I still have it, I might have lent it to a friend and forgotten, who knows.

It's definitely Johnson influenced, but I don't think it's that similar to any of his songs (that I can think of).

I used a POD2 with a Ibanez RG2570 always bridge position (Breed bridge).

I mainly used a B mixolydian sound that means the E major scale over a B7 chord. You can also play a F#-pentatonic over a B7.

The chord progression:


A-Section: B7 ; G-major :||

B-Section: G-major ; D major ; Eb-major 7 ; F major :||


So I had to switch the scales sometimes because of the chords.

Chord----------------Scale
B7------------------E-major

G major--------------G major

D major--------------D major

Eb major 7-----------Eb major

F major--------------Bb major

The "hookline" is played more like an arpeggio.

I hope the english terms for the chords and scales are alright...they differ from the german terms.
