Hey there, This place seems cool..

anywhoo, I have a ibanez sz720fm and a fender american strat...

for the ibanez, I want to give it a whole new tone

I'm planning on getting JB in the bridge
and a Alnico II in the neck.......... both creme

I like to everything from blues to hard rock. How do those choices sound.
I came up with that combo sort of by using artists sounds I like - Slash, Adam Jones...etc - that use the pups.

Now for the strat, I just want to upgrade the bridge pup to give her a lil more punch. I will be getting either a push/pull pot or a switch to split the coils in possibly a little 59er.

The thing I'm trying to accomplish, is to have a strat sounding humbucker(sounds similar to a strat bridge, but with a little more punch), and when I split the coil, it sounds similar to a regular bridge strat pup. will the '59 sort of do that? aside from adding bad ass tones.

If any of you guys use these pups (espcially the 59) could you please tell me If I've made choices and what not. thanks

Welcome to the forum!

Your A2Pro HB for the neck and JB for the bridge should be a nice combo.

The Little 59 in your Strat is a great choice, as would be a JB Jr.

Personally, I'm really liking the Twangbanger right now for a hot Strat bridge replacement pickup.

I think the Twangbanger is pretty hard to beat and it also might blend a little better with your middle pickup than the Little 59.

The Little 59 sounds pretty weak to me split, BTW.

The JB/ AP2 choice is killer I think it will work well for you :bigthumb:
I havent split the little 59 but I have split the little JB and thought it sounded weak and tinny...

Hey, I can't comment on the pickup choices you've put forward (haven't had enough experience), but welcome to the forum! Settle in well, make yourself at home :)

Yea, I really scored well on that Ibanez. It was only like 700 canadian, back when it first came out, and it feels like its worth a couple grand.

I just got a 2005 SZ 320 and love it. In the future I intend to install the old reliable JB/Jazz combo and perhaps some locking tuners. Talk at ya later.

I would go with a Custom instead of a JB...just my opinion...more warmth.

hi bango, i have the AIIPro in the neck of my SZ320 pictured here- really sings. handles high gain very well too despite its demure reputation. the bridge is a Custom Custom. the SZ is an overlooked model but this 2005, ibanez has Duncans in selected models- thumbs up!
