Speaker breakup???

Hi guys, after viewing Brisk's speaker thread, I wondered: which speaker(s) would work best in the following application. Background: the company I work for is in the process of building a single-ended, class A, combo amp (20w). We're using a 6550 for the output tube. The back is partially ported. We're looking for a tight response in the bass and mids, primarily. The V30 is okay, and the G12H30 is not well suited for this application. My question is: should I try a High-wattage speaker which retains it's "focus", or should I look for a low-wattage speaker which will "sing" a little nicer? I'm wondering whether or not the high wattage speaker will sound sterile, while the low-wattage speaker will breakup too much, and lose clarity. Please share your thoughts...

If the focus is on a crunchy tone then I'd definitely go with a low wattage speaker. That speaker movement really makes a difference. I imagine that the headroom wont be huge with this amp so the lower wattage speaker should not impact the clean capabilities too much.

I say to use a speaker that's around what your amp's output is for. I've tried EV-12's and those things sounded dead through anything distorted (speaker breakup is a huge factor in that case).
