speaker differences

hey guys,

I'm checking out the Traynor YCV 40 which comes in 2 versions - the only difference being the speakers (a celestion red label 70/80; or a V30)
Can anyone describe the difference between these 2 speakers
I'm going for more of a modern sound

thanks - I've never swapped speakers, nor do I have any personal experience with either of these

Re: speaker differences

I'm not familiar with the 70/80 speakers, but I can tell you that there are a lot of amps out there with V30's in them. The reason is because they are just great all around rock and roll speakers. Is there a price difference? I'd imagine the V30's are more expensive.

What kind of music are you playing? Blues? I can verfiy that v30's will sound darn good in a blues rig.

Re: speaker differences

thanks
I thought you'd be one of the first to nail this one

i play mainly modern and classic rock
no blues, no jazz, everything from zep to pearl jam to modern stuff
i realized i like a nice round warm clean, and a modern higain heavy crunch

i'm liking amps with a fender/marshall/mesa mode (like the mesa nomad)
but i've been checkin out this traynor
its really 2 channels with a boost, but the clean was stellar and the dirty was nice but i'm thinking too vintage sounding for me

trying to see if it can do modern or not

thought maybe the model i played (with the v30) might be more vintage sounding

Re: speaker differences

V30 is a classic rock speaker. No doubt. I think that's where I'd go.
