Speaker Snobs: Chinese Vs English G12H?

I just bought a G12h on Ebay - I specifically wanted one that was "Made in England", that's why I went for something used. Am I just being a snob, or is there a difference in quality/tone on the newer G12h speakers of different manufacturing origins? :dunno:

yeah.......the English ones are not made in People's Liberation Army Speaker Factory Number 13 using prisoners for slave labor:fingersx: So what is wrong with being a snob? Works for me:laugh2:

I use the UK version myself....and I avoid Chinese products whenever possible. To me, it's like supporting Nazi Germany when you support China by buying thier products. But that's just me...I think China has one of the most repressive governments on the planet. You do not want to say what I just said about China if you are a Chinese in China or a Tibetan living in Chinese occupied Tibet...they'll lock you up and torture you until you take it back.

That said, Celestion claims the quality of the Chinese Celestions is higher...but of course they'd say that: they're in the business of selling speakers.

My wife used to do business in China. She always came back talking about the lousy conditions and the little girl hookers.

Re: Speaker Snobs: Chinese Vs English G12H?

The only reason I'd avoid the chinese ones is for ethical reasons.

Andy Sneap got to take a tour of the chinese factory, and he said the ones that come out of there are every bit as toneful as the new ones - they sent most of the equipment used to make then over to China, and bought new equipment for the UK factory, apparently.

I wonder if Chinese people are even allowed to play real rock n roll??? Or is it illegal? You can bet that they are not allowed to sing anything that the government would find critical of the government. Lew

I believe most music, especially foreign music, is illegal in China, as it was and still is in many countries in Africa and the Middle-East.
