Speaker suggestions for a Classic 30

Re: Speaker suggestions for a Classic 30

Well, the no-brainer suggestions would be either a G12H-30 or a Celestion Blue. Cheaper alternatives would be the Eminence Wizard or Red Fang, or Weber clones.

Beyond that, more creative suggestions would require experience and brain power, both of which are in short supply here today.

Re: Speaker suggestions for a Classic 30

I prefer Eminence for everything. They have such a variety of speakers to choose from.

Re: Speaker suggestions for a Classic 30

i like the g12h-30 but havent liked the chinese ones that i heard recently as much, could be me being biased but i dont think so. good fat sound

id skip the celestion blue. great speaker but not for an amp over 20w, you dont want to pop a $220+ speaker. the alnico gold though is a nice speaker. i have one in my blackface deluxe and it is a nice balanced speaker with a wide tone. not as bright as the blue but very nice

i have tried and liked the eminence red fang, texas heat, and cannabis rex.

i think the rex might be a great speaker for that amp

Re: Speaker suggestions for a Classic 30

Im with Jermey, try the Can Rex...Imbetting that would warm up the highs a good bit and really help make the amp a tad more balenced. The only negative about those speakers is the long break in time...

Re: Speaker suggestions for a Classic 30

they do take a while to break in but i think they are a really great speaker once they loosen up

Re: Speaker suggestions for a Classic 30

I just bought a Weber 12" Blue Dog ceramic for my extension cab. My Champ 6000 sounds really good though it. There are a few sound clips of the blue dog.

Link https://taweber.powweb.com/weber/

Just click open the British series and the Ceramic blue dog speaker, the clips are there.

Re: Speaker suggestions for a Classic 30

To me, Greenbacks are the best sounding speaker, hands down. I can't use them 'cause of the power handling, but with a lower wattage amp like that; they would be my only choice.

Re: Speaker suggestions for a Classic 30

Hellatone 30 (Celestion G12H30) or Hellatone 60L (Celestion "OEM Special" Vintage30)

Re: Speaker suggestions for a Classic 30

I'll throw the Eminence Texas Heat up there too, nice sounding speaker, kind of a mix of the best American and British traits.

Re: Speaker suggestions for a Classic 30

For the CL-30 it is hard to beat the good old Emi GB12. My son uses the Emi Private Jack in his with good results.

Re: Speaker suggestions for a Classic 30

Thanks for all the suggestions :) Now I have learned it has to be a 16 ohm speaker.

Re: Speaker suggestions for a Classic 30

many of thos speakers are available in 16 ohm versions, such as the cannabis rex
