I know what you mean...when I play through my Gibson GA-20 amp with old Jensen P12R I hear mostly squawking honking mids. You're right in a way.

But compare a '66 Jensen C12N to a Celestion G12M-25 someday. I used to use one of each in my '67 Fender Pro-Reverb.

There's alot more texture and classic "Marshall-esque" or "British Blues" personality to the mids in the Celestion.

American = more hi-fi (higher amplitude for highs and lows); brit = more defined mids.
