Re: Speakers for '72 Twin Reverb, part 2
I have Celestion Modern Leads in it now (G12 i think), but they're old and one is broke. I prefer the Twin to sound like (ahem) a twin, but not really with an emphasis on vintage or on modern tone. Technically I use this thing for lead tone, so in theory Celestion Leads or similar would work. I loved how the jazz clip on celestion's website sounded through the G12T-75, which is why I said that. I LOVE the tone that clip has. Basically, I want the amp to sound ultra-sexy at all 5's on all knobs with my ESP with the Jazz neck playing through it. I have effects for all other styles in the form of my ME-50. I actually loved how it sounded with the Modern Leads anyways. However, my pocketbook can only tolerate $100 per speaker max (i.e. exactly $100 US, so $200 max total). This is why I'm hesitant about the Weber 12F150's: they sound excellent, but with tax and shipping they'll put me over.
Other amps I have liked the sound of: Peavey Delta Blues 2x10 and '65 Fender Twin Reverb reissues, and Marshall MG15DFX (and cousins). I also liked, ironically, the Line Out amp simulator on my Boss ME-50 through two 35W Roland keyboard amps (but it was rather bright).
Anyways, I hope that helps.

Also, make sure that when you're looking at speakers you're getting enough wattage (not that the 75's won't do, but TGWIF is right about the Greenbacks). Just tell me this...do you want a Fender tone or something different? Maybe we can start from there.
