Really been digging into some Mick Karn lately, and I wanted to share some of my favorite tunes of his if anybody has GOOD taste in bass tones, you will not be disappointed...

Fat P-bass type tone w/ some bridge (sounds like). Can't figure out the effect on this one, if any. . And if that is his Wal how the heck is he getting that sound?https://youtu.be/O3E6FjGr6zY

This is just some awesome drop d fretless work...

Re: Speaking of Mick Karn...

That groove starting at 0:54 is from the song Dalí's Car. (You probably already knew this.)

The body of Karn's WAL Custom bass guitar was made out of an unusual tone wood.

I always used to think that Karn double tracked his parts. Sometimes, it sounds like a very short delay. On fretless, this creates a chorus effect. I hear an element of overdrive in the mixture but this is probably natural amp gain rather than a pedal effect.

Wow, I did not know that.the bass line he played was from that song... makes me wonder if the last groove he played was from a song as well. He was just really groovin that night man. I have recently immersed myself in many different bass artists, picked up a Jaco documentary the other day and boy did that open my eyes to someone I didn't know much about... So I started learning Portrait of Tracy and was up all night doing so... good times...

Re: Speaking of Mick Karn...

I suspect that the television appearance with Angie Bowie predates the entire Dalis Car project.

Dalis Car amounted to Karn on instruments and music plus Peter Murphy (formerly of Bauhaus) on vocals and lyrics. Their 1984 release was titled The Waking Hour. The 2011 posthumous release, Ingladaloneness, is a collection of out-takes and reworkings.
