Re: Specs of Invader pole pieces?
I borrowed the following quote from the
What happened to the Duncan Performer line? post so that I don't hijack that thread.
You cannot just convert the HB-103 to a detonator because you need to have two slut coils in order to compensate for the larger bolt shaft diameter.
Good observation. Let me come back to that.
If you want I could even send you some, I bought a box of 50 so I think I could spare twelve
Thanks man. That's very generous of you. But let me explain what I'm toying with doing before I take you up on that.
In the "Whatever happened to" thread, there's a nice link to yet another thread where Evan Skopp clearly explains that the Detonator was made from the "design" of the coils of the Distortion, combined with the poles from the Invader, topped off with a "standard" thickness ceramic magnet. That got my little gray cells to working:
Could I make a "USA" Detonator by taking a bonafide Distortion, and adding the Invader button-top 10-32 hex-head screw pole pieces? I'd be using the stock Distortion thicker ceramic mag, but not including the side mags of the "real" Invader. Could be fun.
But that brings me back to
Johnny the Kid's point. The "stud" side coil will be ok, but can I drill out the "screw" side coil, to fit the 10-32 screws, without digging into the windings? Do both bobbins start out the same but with one drilled out with larger holes?
So, that's where I'm going with this.
