Specs on Pearly Gates and PG+

Re: Specs on Pearly Gates and PG+

So ... please help me understand. This is my TB-10. Is this tremolo f or g spaced?

if it says TB-10, then it's F-spaced. the PG+ is not F-spaced. i'll measure them both when i get home. i sold my PGb, but i'll do a side-by-side comparison with my PG+ before i ship it.

pearly gates plus

production G-spaced pearly gates bridge:

TB-4, F-spaced JB:

F-spaced GFS Alnico Classic (used on my scrap-steel because it still maintains proper string coverage while staggered on a G-spaced bridge)

Ok so the PG+ is g spaced, does that mean the MIK Showmaster has a tremolo that is half way between f and g spaced?

Is that your showmaster in the photo?

Need to put the flat edge of the tape right onto the strings so the measurement isnt skewed by the camera angle.

Low e string to high e string spacing appears to be 2-1/16". Yes, that was/is my Showmaster. Do these have a non-standard spacing then?

Yes, the traditional Strat Tremolo unit has slightly wider string spacing, most of the Mexican and Asian-made Strats use an Asian-made tremelo that has the less wide 2 1/16" string spacing. An exception is the Mexican Classic series, which uses a trem that is a copy of the vintage Strat Trem, with normal string spacing. Actually, I like the narrower string spacing, which helps to avoid the "top string going off the edge of the board" syndrome.

So, if the pole-to-pole spacing on the PG+ is around 49mm, it is regular Gibson-humbucker spaced, not trem spaced, or F-spaced, or whatever different companies call it. The wider-spaced polepieces measure around 51mm, as shown in the one pic.
