Another one of these threads. Throw me some suggestions for a quality guitar, hardtail, good for heavy rock. No Strat shapes.

I'll PM you my address and you can send it right over. It'll be gone in about 10 minutes :D

:laugh2:

That funnier than hell, coz I was gonna say, "Send Brent (9finger) $50 of it for some pickups" :D

I love my ltd ec400at I dont think they make this specific one anymore, but if you can find one it is a great guitar.

Find a good Gibson Faded SG or Flying V. That or a used Fender 72 Deluxe or Thinline.

Those seem to be the popular choices these days.

An Epi LP Std with a above-average flame maple top (used, in excellent condition, on eBay for $400). Leaves enough for a couple of SD's, like a '59N/C5. You're still under $600 & you've got a great-looking & sounding guitar. A lot for your money. More guys need to do this.

This sounds pretty good to me, although I would buy the guitar locally so I could play it first. Money left over after the pickups could be used to replace the electronics as well.

My personal opinion:

$599 ESP EC-400 Archtop. I would buy one without second thought: I had been drooling over it for some time. However, the only one Musiciansfriend has is gold, and I don't like that color: gimme black! :D

$599 Ibanez SZ720FM Electric Guitar (Transparent Gray*) Very tempting, but I've never played one.

$599 Paul Reed Smith SE Single Cut Electric Guitar. Never played one, but from what I hear about the company, this would be a steal.

$549 Schecter C-1 Plus Electric Guitar. From playing other Schecters of this body type, they're very well made, and feel great, with an excellent heel. Never played this one, but I've played the C-1 Classic and I'd love to have one. Too bad it's Duncan Designed rather than the actual Jazz/JB.

$599 Paul Reed Smith SE Custom Electric Guitar. Again, from what I hear about them, it definitely would be a good idea to try one.
