Spina mods

A couple years ago i planned on having a vox wah modded by mr. spina, but never got around to it. I bought the inductor (mfd 10/2003), a large potentiometer (fulltone 1) & a switch that says 0503C Mexico. These were the three separate parts I was told were needed to for the Spina mod. I'm just wondering about them. Did they start making that inductor again, & what exactly is the inductor? Spina wah owners probably know. I just got an RMC so may be trying to unload them, I just want to learn what the hell they are.

Re: Spina mods

You ended up with a pot, inductor and a true bypass switch...the inductor is a key part of a wah but since Fulltone isn't sellign them seperat anymroe and seeing that you have an RMC your best bet is to just sell them outright...check ebay and such for prices but the last Fulltone inductor I saw for sale was well over $50, the pot and switch are another $25 each, give or take...

Re: Spina mods

I have 2 Spina modded Wahs. One is an old Thomas Organ Company Wah from the 60's that I had for a long time and never used much because it sounded like crap (just goes to show you that not everything vintage is awesome). I sent this to John about 2 years ago and it has been my main wah since. I have a second pedalboard setup that I keep at my bands practice spot. This one has a modded Vox 847. A very different wah than my old Crybaby. This has a pot on the side that you can adjust the voice and the sweep. I'm really not sure what John does to these things, but this Wah is completely different from any 847 I've used. It sounds so much better and has so much more versatilty. In all the mods John has done he commuicated with photos of what he did and details that make no sense to me. I don't know the difference between all the technical stuff that most guys talk about. Like cap values and things like that. I do nknow what my ears like and John has never dissapointed me. Every mod he has done for me I am still using and see no reason to try something new. His stuff works better than most everything I've tried. Just send the wah and the parts to him and let him run with it. You won't be sorry you did!!!

Re: Spina mods

I was surprised to find that you just didn't shoot me a pm about your wah parts and such? I would have gladly answered "all" of your questions!

Thanks again my brother Dave for the nice plugs! Always appreciated buddy!
