The Competition looks good spec wise. I guess having second gear is some nice added flexibility but I'd rather it just be 1st gear with OD1 and OD2, nothing else. Solo Boost is a nice feature though. I have that ability in mine with Master B.

What I love about my Marshall is it's a simple 1 channel amp with two independent master volumes. No frills, nothing fancy. If I ever were to retire it and get something else, I'd want one pretty similar.

the competition might be for u then..save you some cashola too....plus first and second gears are footswitchable..so that would be pretty neat

Saving on the cash side is a good thing. I noticed is the lowest priced of all of them. Too bad there's no pics or clips of it on the site. Everything is either the Pro Mod or Quick Rod.

yeah, I don't know why there's no pix of the competition yet...that's a little odd...soundwise, it would probably sound like that rush tribute clip (cause that was done with a QR, but on half power...so I would think it'd be similar)

I like shreders clip tones better too.. I think its the cut of the ESP and JB pup, what is that alder or ASH? I like that for Metal.. the mahogony body I got is great for alot of different styles but not as growly.. I like it, but if I played more like shreder I'd like his tone better. Luckily for both of us though its the same amp. :)

you're absolutely right about it being good for metal man..the more I play the ESP through my splawn, I realize that that's exactly what it is...a metal type guitar...

and yeah, it's alder...that, combined with the pretty hot and upper mid spikey JB makes for a totally metal sound..

by the by, my rio's are finally in my JP6!!! I'll get at it tonight at practice..through a cruddy amp, but I'll know if it's for me or not =D

the m-1 and sunburst tiger are..not sure about the kamikazi..but the skulls n snakes is different for whatever reason

I always loved alder too,, I think I'm going to restring my 89' PRS. That guitar sounds sick for Metal but I semi-retired it cause its been beat on the road so much. Its 2 piece alder,, SWEET sounding guitar.

I didn't know PRS made axes in alder? nice!

does that have the original dragons in it?

This one was a prototype CE that I bought from the guitarist from Humble Pie. We did some shows together in Cleveland waaaay back in like '92 or something. I got to hang out with Paul Reed himself one time, we had dinner and went drinking after with a bunch of people at the store I tought at. He actually remembered building this guitar and told me about it, it was alder with the Santana pickups which were at that time something different, I forget which. Anyway, this guitar sounds awesome.. Its sooo beat though.

nice axe, man...I just can't get comfy on them PRS necks..even the thin ones are too wide for me (from E to E)

yeah I like big PHAT necks ,.. this ones like a baseball bat and the Mansel is wide as hell.
