Split coil push/pull first attempt

This is my first time doing this for a customer (attempted it on one of my own, but gave up because the push/pull pots would not fit in my guitar cavity) This is 2 SD pups replacing the pups in a PRS SE guitar that already has split coil p/p pot on the tone pot. All I did was wire the p/p the same as it was originally. here's my question: in the "push" position everything works normal using the 3 way switch, in the pull position I only get the split effect in the bridge pup. No sound from the neck pup in the neck & middle position of the 3 way switch. Is this normal? Black & white wires from bridge is set to lug D, B&W wires from Neck is set to lug A, blue wire from lug 2 on 3 way switch is set to lug E and white wire from the tone pot is set to lug B, Green & braid from both pups is set to the p/p chassis ground. Red wire from bridge is set to lug F and red wire from neck s set to lug 7 of the 3 way. Lug "c" is bare, no wire to it.

If these are Duncan pups, then connecting B&W wires together permanently shorts out your slug coil. You should have both black wires going to their respective lugs on the 3-way. Green and bare wires go direct to ground. Red/white of one pup goes to "B", and red/white of the other pup goes to "E". Then jumper "A" & "D" together and connect to ground.

Good advice, this worked, one question with the push/pull... in the pull position I have full humbuckers and single coil in the push position, is this normal? Seems backwards to me.

Just spoke with the customer and he wants it the other way, push double coil pull single coil. How to correct? jumper C & F & connect to ground? Leave A&D un connected? Leave B&E as is?

Because you didn't follow Artie's advice with your diagram. If you connected the ground wires to lugs A and D (the ones next to the pot), then that will split both pups when the p/p is pulled up. You must have connected the ground wires to C and F (the lugs farthest away from the pot).

Don't feel bad. It's a common mistake that I occasionally make myself. It's because we tend to view the push-pull in its upright position to draw a diagram. Then, when installed in the guitar, it's upside down.

Thanks friends, I dont feel bad we learn from our mistakes, I have been doing electronics for many years just never did a split coil P/P, the guitar is back in the owners hands and is very happy with the results.
