Split SD Vintage Rail Y/N?

Just wondering is the SD vintage Rail (SVR-1), minibucker for strat, a 4 wire or 2 wire configuration, SD site says 4 while others say it's just 2. And if a 4 wire, can I split the bucker into single coil, cause the way that particular rail looks, as if the rail only goes halfway through the entire lenghth of the pickup on each side of the bucker. PS maybe , I don't want to split that bucker anyway due to it's supposed high resonance already, Please help?

Welcome to the forum. The old VR was 2-wire, and the new ones are 4-wire. You can split the new one, but I've never heard one done that way. Even though the pole-piece only goes halfway across, the "other" one is still there. I doubt that a magnetic field is that tightly focused that you wouldn't get anything. Its only about 1/4" away. Those three strings might be a tad weaker though.

Thanks Artie. Looks like your a month older than I, UH, pretty ironic just joined this site and run into someone my age on here, lol

Re: Split SD Vintage Rail Y/N?

I wouldnt split it, you could series/parallel switch it though if you wanted it to sound beefier.

it's wonderful in its standard parallel setting though.
