Spot the Gibson

But really, why bother with the pickup spacing difference? It would be just as easy to put them in the same place.

They are being built in different countries on different machines that would have to be a major influence on CNC layout.

No, that's bullshit. Programming a CNC machine can be done to make any shape and any location of pickup cavity. Changing the bridge pickup is done so that the Gibson has a major selling point over the Epi . . . there will be a noticeable sound difference from that change in placement. Something that someone playing one and then the other will easily hear in the store.

nah bruh its the magnetic field that creates the tone, have you played a maton? southern hemisphere guitars are way more toney than any thing we make north of the equator. its just the man trying to keep us in the dark and toneless

Left Gibson, right Epiphone. Fret nibs on the Gibson, and the ridiculous length of the set screws for the bridge on the Epiphone.

I actually saw that too, but said neither because trick post.

Thanks Goob, I knew I could count on ya! ;)

Happy to be of service.

You know, the longer I look at the OP's photo - the more differences I see. Obviously, there is no detail so sacred it can't be tweaked.

Other than the headstock, does Gibson cripple the Epi's design so it looks like an overseas imitation on purpose? Fender does this with pickguards- the overseas ones have screw holes that don't line up, I am guessing, on purpose.

I doubt it because Gibson goes out of their way to make some beautiful upscale Epiphones especially the Jazz boxes. You can spend $1000 to $2,000+ on an Epiphone they are not a cheap or budget guitar brand and never have been. They do produce inexpensive, student/budget guitars along with their other offerings.
