Spray paint a pickup?

Hey I just bought an Invader pickup and I'm gonna throw it into my Strat. The problem is, a black invader would look really ugly in my dark blue strat with a white pearloid pickguard lol.

A worker at guitar center told me buy spray paint and put painters tape all around the pickup, and only to spray the top, and to hold the can like a foot above the pickup and to spray it in multiple coats?

Would that be okay? Is he wrong? What other advice would you guys have?

I got one of these painted pickups. I have to cover it since there is no chance to get the paint off unless destroying it. Stay away!

Take them bobbin toppers - they are not to much more than a spray can

White over black is never going to come out right, and is just not a good idea.

Either stick with black, sell/trade, or get a bobbin topper.

Before you install it, return it.

Then, go buy a Custom or Custom 5 in dark or light blue from an online dealer.

Spray painted or not....me no likey Invaders. LOL
