I am probably go to get a affinity tele here just to finally get a tele and was curious about the routing...I've seen people manage to put P90s in the neck so do you think I could swing getting a tv jones in there????

Will probably upgrade the bridge hardware and change the pickguard also........

Re: Squier Affinity tele questions.....

they might be home-routed to fit that kind of pickup..

Re: Squier Affinity tele questions.....

After many upgrades you could turn it into an ok ax. I cant even pretend that body doesn't look sick witout that pick guard. I love that. I'd swap out the pickups and find a decent neck. Check out gfs for pickups and electronics.

Re: Squier Affinity tele questions.....

Not to hijack, but do they have the same body thickness/dimensions as regular Fender teles? Just asking since the strats are thinner and feel kinda like toys.

is it worth upgrading such a low quality guitar?

Re: Squier Affinity tele questions.....

If you're looking for an inexpensive Tele to use for upgrading take a look a Rondomusic.com. They have nice axes for little money.

Re: Squier Affinity tele questions.....

you can make it into a decent guitar depending on your own standard's.

If it was me, things I would change

-Pickups
-possibly pickguard if i didn't like it
-saddles.

apart from that everything else should be fine, the machine heads are pretty robust on those things and the neck and nut are normally of a good quality.

you should be able to upgrade that guitar with what I just said for about $30 if you look and buy from the right places.

when i say upgrade the saddles look for some import width Vintage bent steel ones. you should be able to find some knocking about on Ebay quite cheap (you have more chance than I did since you are a righty but also because you are in the USA)

Yes!

pickups and bridge always make a huge difference!

nut too, but I've never really bothered..

Re: Squier Affinity tele questions.....

I will definately be upgrading the pickups and the bridge for sure....I'll be tossing a new pickguard on there also....I have a vision in my head....scary....

Re: Squier Affinity tele questions.....

try and find a used Classic Vibe tele and then you won't feel like you have to change hardware. stock bridge pickup aint bad either. (it's better than the MIM ceramic pickup on Fender standards). Much nicer in every way... necks too. You wouldn't have to change the neck out or even get much fretwork done.

Affinity teles just need so much work to be a keeper... why not save an extra week's pay and get something that's not such a gamble. Cuz nothing sucks like collecting parts for a cheap guitar, having it not work out, and then selling it all for half what you paid.

Problem with that is I am a lefty and I really kind of want something a little cheaper as a mod platform....Eventually I will probably spring for a nice G&L tele....
