Why the hell would they give her a signature model!? at least it's only squier and not fender but come one...who in their right mind would buy one of these?

1.)it looks cool. even for a tele. with one pickup. So me :laugh2:

2.)she's popular, and it's not like she's getting a signature custom shop fender or something. I have nothing against her.

I still don't see why she'd have a sig model. It would be a much better buy to get something like that of better quality...this thing has a crappy squier humbucker...the idea of having the 3 way for the bucker is cool...but my thing is, why bother making it for avril lavigne when they could've just made a standard tele with an HS setup and a 5-way, which could do the same, and more?

I've been preaching HS/5-way for some time. I have one H/3-way instrument already (broadcaster wiring). That said... I do not think she's a good enough artist to get a sig model. I mean. I have never heard a single decent solo come from her. But, to her credit, I haven't listened to a lot of her work. If you can call that "to her credit."

It's all the same anyway, whether it has her name on it or not.

And it's cheap so kids can afford it and play and be like their hero. Probably some cute little chick who wants to rock.

And not all squiers suck.

HEY- Signature guitars don't have anything to do with the player's ability. It's a marketing tool used to sell guitars, nothing else.

Lets face it, fender will make a signature for anyone that can play a chord.

Fender's really not that bad about handing out signature stuff. Squier has a bunch of them, but most of the Fender models really aren't that goofy.

If I really wanted a checkerboard tele there's the Agile one (checkerboard top, two pups) and if I wanted a single HB Squire there's always the Hello Kitty strat or that Sum 41 guy's tele.

Regardless good for her and the kids should be stoked. At least Sqiuer is making an effort to make the cheaper guitars more appealing to the youth.

...I'm more confused by the sig guitars of artists I can't name (but people here probably worship, lol).

(Especially as many of those are just standard strats/teles with different colors/necks )

Squier=Fender product.

Squier = Fender product aimed at a completely different demographic.

Seriously, if somebody who digs Avril Lavigne, Sum 41, or even that skateboarder they made a Showmaster for a few years ago happens to get into playing music because of the name on the guitar, is it really such a bad thing?
