Squier deluxe Hot Rails

Hi,
I hope someone can give me a bit of advice !. I have read on this forum that some hot rails have been put in the wrong place. I think this may include mine. It just sounds out of tune all the time and I decided to check the resistance of the pups using a meter plugged into the cable socket. I moved the 5 way switch and took readings at each position. 1 - (bridge) 11.74, 2 - 7.9, 3 - (Middle) 22.94, 4 - 7.93, 5 - (neck) 11.82 !. What do you guys think ?

Welcome to the forum.

The resistance values that you have posted suggest that the Hot Rails pickup has been soldered in as if it were the centre pickup.

The solution is to disconnect the "hot" cables for the bridge and centre pickups from the selector switch then reconnect each pickup to the correct terminal.

Without knowing which make/model of selector switch is in your guitar, I cannot give specific advice.

Hi Funkfingers !
The pups are all HR 101 hot rails. They are a set of pups designed but not built by Seymour Duncan. They are all single coil humbuckers the middle being RWRP. These are fitted to a Fender Squire deluxe strat.

If your meter readings were taken from the selector switch terminals, there are two possible explanations:
1) The pickups are positioned correctly but a mistake has been made whilst soldering the cables to the selector switch.
2) The wiring is correct but two of the pickups have been installed in the wrong positions in the scratchplate.

Take meter readings from the pickups themselves. Touch the meter probes to the solder points on the black and green conductors of each individual pickup. What readings do you get this way?
