Squier Showmaster - got one?

My friend recently replaced his RR Jackson with a Squier Showmaster and brought it in to have it evaluated and set up. Besides the 5-way switch being a bit stiff and a HSS combo not coupling good with 1T/1V@500kOhm for my taste, this guitar smokes. Plays and feels as well as any other standard Strat. I immediately noticed the C-profile neck, in my experience it's not that popular with Squier, I'd expect a chunky fat neck. I'd guess these guitars are somewhere 10-12 years old? I remember back in 2000s going through their catalogs and saw it there.
Not a single stripped hole anywhere on the guitar, everything is rock solid, and you can clearly tell by the screwheads it was more than once that someone used a PZ2 driver on a PH1 screw. :)

Last week I had a Squier Tele Custom II or whatever it is called, the P-90 version and while I was only replacing a pot and cleaned it, every single hole in the pickguard stripped, the neck moved in the pocket altough it was tight as it could be, I had to glue in dowels and redrill the bridge holes as it was lifting etc.

Well I'd guess Showmaster were much more expensive as modern "high-end" Squier that go for 290 if I'm not mistaken? They are usually 249 in euros.

You got any? Show them please, I'll post pictures soon.

PS: I was shocked of how a reverse Strat headstock looks in playing position. It's monstrous and weird. Altough I played a rev. Jackson Dinky for years, this one is a whole new experience. :)
But it does look badass on a guitar itself.

And for the best part - he traded his "toy" Yamaha keyboards not worth even a $100 for that Showmaster :)

My buddy's got one exactly like this:

Fun guitars for sure. Ones like this can typically be had for around $100.

Re: Squier Showmaster - got one?

That's actually a Stagemaster, 24 frets instead of 22, locking tremolo and matching colour headstock, but basically almost identical. I think bodies are not interchangeable since the 22 fret Showmaster has the neck pup butted right against the fretboard.

It's the ideal guitar for some fun "deluxing". Definitely a guitar worth a bit more than it is selling for. I got my radars up in case another one turns up. Feeling kinda dumb that I didn't know it was put into classifieds a month ago here in my region. Too bad :)

Can't believe you got it at $100. That seems like a lot of guitar for that $$.

Re: Squier Showmaster - got one?

Here's an anniversary model Showmaster I used to have. Very nice guitar. Action was great and it had a stock Ping Floyd Rose with a brass block, too. I sold it to a friend of mine who is in an EMO/Goth band. I want to say they were made by CORT. Quality wise it was miles ahead of the Plus Top Standard Strat I played at Sam Ash the other day.

I dont own one, but I nearly bought one back in the day a few times. I liked the upside down headstock and they had one in purple and black like the one above (minus the skulls). most I played were really solid guitars and impressed me alot and were like $299 or so new. I just never had the cash at the time and so forth

In semi-related curiosity, why on Earth did Fender stop making the Showmasters?

After years of trying unsuccessfully to break into the Metal Market with their own brand names, Fender finally just gave up and bought Jackson/Charvel instead.

I remember those at Mars / Sam Ash when they first came out. They had 4 that just sat and sat. I should have grabbed one back then.

Greetings, all. I bought a Squire Showmaster for $20 from a coworker. It needs MUCH work, as the prior owner did a horrible paintjob to it. There are some dings and such, and the Floyd Rose is missing a few parts (block that holds the string tight). I'm not a fan of skull and bone inlays, but for me this is a great project guitar. I'll attempt to repaint it myself (with much studying from videos and such first), and it did come with Gibson Dirty Finger pickups (i.e., $20 was worth the pups and the experience of the project...). Does anyone have suggestions for Floyd Rose parts, as in, where to get them? I'll post some pics soon of it.

The posts in here are enjoyable, so thank you all for sharing.
