SSL-1 VS Fender CS-69

This has probably been beat to death.
BUT

Has anyone got any experience comparing the SSL-1 to the CS-69 from fender?
As far as I know both are Alnico 5 but that is about it, I was wondering if anyone would have some first hand knowledge.

I am really looking for a good hendrixy strat sound in my '05 usa strat.
I know the Antiquities are good but I just dont know if I can spend that $$

Thanks!

Re: SSL-1 VS Fender CS-69

I haven't tried the 69s, and I'm not totally sure about this, but I believe they're lower output than the SSLs. I think the 69s are probably about 6K, and the SSLs are closer to 6.4. A fairly small difference in specs - they're both glassy vintage style pickups.

the SSLs are great pickups ... the California Set is a great deal too

I haven't used the 69's but SSL-1's are Hendrix, SRV and Knopfler tone to the max and inexpensive to boot. Check my sig. :fingersx:

Re: SSL-1 VS Fender CS-69

The CS69's are less than 6k and are like true vintage Strat poickups in that the bridge/middle and neck are all the same...the middle is NOT rw/rp and the bridge is not wound any hotter...that said they have a nice glassy chime in a way more so than the SSL-1.

To be honest, both are great pickups and I think you'd pretty happy with either set...
