SSL-5 In Mex Strat Bridge - Wiring Help!

I searched and found little clarity on the issue of how to wire the SSL-5 in the bridge position of Fender Standard Strat. The SD instructions say to reverse the black and white wires on the SD if using with Fender pickups in the same guitar. Did that...didn't sound right. I reversed the wiring back and sounds better. Anyone have any experience with this? Could the SD instructions be inaccurate? thanks

Hell if it works, dont mess with it. If there's not a crazy amount of hum and the tone is how it should be, I say leave it be. Regardless if its right or not. It wont hurt anything

There will be no difference of the pickup tone just by itself......if it was wired correctly.
Its only in combination with other pickups that the issue becomes apparent.

A RW/RP duncan will have the wires the way you have them now to be in phase.

Historically, SD pickups and Fender pickups are out of phase. Are you saying that it sounds better by itself when the wired are 'correct' vs when they are reversed? Or in combination with the middle pickup? Is this SSL-5 rw/rp?
