SSL6 questions

Ok 1st of first post so hi guys

The reason I joined this forum is because I tried a guitar called a lodestone the other day to look at it is meh but it sounded f**king amazing it had SSL-6 pickups neck and middle and and a sh4jb humbucker in the bridge......

I wasnt over keen on the look so im thinking of buying a guitar and getting those pickups put in....any ideas of guitar choice i was thinking may a yamaha pacifica 112 or a mex strat? what do you guys think....

Then I wondered do some of these fender mexs have similar pickups are tex mex or texas specials similar to these wondrous SSL6 pickups

Welcome to the forum.

Either of your guitar suggestions would benefit from the PU upgrade that you mention. My only word of warning is that the nut width on the PAC112 may prove a little tight for large hands.

I here talk of swapping pots out for 500k this and something or otherk that I dont know what this does or means but do I have to do that to get the best from these pickups or will it just work fine without doing that?>

500k pots will change the taper and make the pickups brighter...General rule and I say "general rule"...

250k for single coils...500k is too spikey for my tastes here.

300k/500k for humbuckers...But there are no rules!

Those SSL-6 are really dark - they are 13k with 43AWG. I am quite sure you can use 500k with them without getting spikes
