Stag Mag problem

I have just got anew guitar and have just fitted the Stag Mag out of my old guitar.

I had it wired to a switch in the old guitar for switching between hum and single but I don't have a switch for the new guitar yet so I am wiring it up as a humbucker for now.

The problem is when it is wired as humbucker there is very little or no output though it still works as a single when I connect the red and white wires to the earth.

I've double checked all the wiring from my old guitar and in diagrams on the web.

Any ideas?

Re: Stag Mag problem

do you have a multimeter? if so check the black and white wires and the red and green wires

Re: Stag Mag problem

Thanks Jeremy

I do but the wires seem fine after I wired it up directly to the output, everything with the pickup is OK. Maybe the problem is the 5 way selector switch. It is an Ibanez with HSH arrangement. I have resoldered and cleaned up the contacts a few times. Is it possible to burn these out when soldering?

Re: Stag Mag problem

the switch? yeah its possible but not very common. if its an enclosed box type 5 way, id go get a new switch

Re: Stag Mag problem

Thanks Jeremy. I have ordered a new one from the US. You're lucky in the US here in the UK there are hardly any guitar parts available.

Re: Stag Mag problem

Thanks for the links Lt. I've heard of all parts but they didn't have the switch I needed. I called places like GAK and Dawsons for pickups but it is cheaper to order from the US.

The switch arrived today and I wired it up but the problem is the same.

Could it be some kind of earthing issue?

I have a multimeter but not really sure what contacts should have continuity between them?

Re: Stag Mag problem

OK don't reply I'm an idiot.

I had the bridge red wire on the wrong terminal, the spare one.
