If I am not mistaken, they are SMT-based amps? Most definitely made in China. Originally offered and sold through Thomann. The amp in question is a mass-produced OEM product from China that is marketed through various vendors such as Monoprice. There is an amp builder, whose name escapes me, that also sells them through his website. When I say OEM, I mean that one company makes it, but the product itself is sold under various names through multitudes of other vendors. Stage Right is one name, Harley Benton is one, and RMS Amps is another.
From the reviews I have heard and read, these amps sound decent, perform well and do what they say. The unfortunate thing is that they are expendable and likely to fail when you least expect them to.

I'll look into this, I have a Carvin SX 200 that I dont really care for. for lack of a better word, it's 'dry'

I bought the 5W version off Craigslist this week for $90 used. It is a cool little amp. It's really surprising how loud this thing is at 5 watts! It looks and sounds good, but I want to modify it closer to Fender Champ specs. The problem is there's a 470pF bright cap off the volume control that cuts way too much bass and it sounds a bit shrill. 100pF might be a better choice or just remove it completely. I have the tone turned down all the way and it lacks bass response. They more than likely chose a really bright cap so the internal speaker doesn't fart out at high volumes. However, I intend to put it in a 1x15 or 2x12 cabinet. I have a mint condition JBL D140 15-inch speaker that I bought last week for $65 that would sound good with it or two 12-inch Celestion G12L30 speakers. I also bought an old Sylvania 12AT7 because a friend has a Fender Vibro Champ with a 12AT7 that sounds great.

A X100 is a far far different amp than a SX200 and I have owned both. Depends on exactly which X 100B we are talking but some of those amps are real killers! There were at least 20 different variants of those amps though.

I got in my old stock 12AT7 today and last night I bought a cheap Stinger FX-6B bass combo for $20 that I am using as a cab for my 15-inch Alnico JBL D140. It's a ported closed-back and I stapled some poly in the cab to reduce standing waves. The combination of the 12AT7 and closed-back cab cured the amp's brightness issues, and I don't think I need to make any modifications. It's just a big warm clean and punchy sounding amp.
