Re: Stands for amp heads?
Gotta be able to hold 2 heads, preferably one above the other, with room for heat dissipation.
Hmmm. Maybe. Hafta put the head in it "backwards" and turn it around so the knobs point up. But then, the TR head has stuff al across the back panel that the suppert arms might block (Murphy's Law says it's the good stuff, too).
I've got a keyboard on one of
these
says it would hold 110 pounds
Mine I would trust it up to 75
it would be the definition of "Top Heavy"
Actually, I might get that for my large-format HP DJ90 printer
More speaker cabs or other amp heads are my go-to storage solutions.
Not really an option for me. If I do get another cab, it'll be for my Fender head, and will be in the "cabinet room" with the other two. Also got a whacky plan to convert my 4x12 into a "dual 2x12" where 2 speakers are used by the 800 and the other two for the Rec, then use my Carvin 2x12 for my Fender head. The 4x12 (Mesa Halfback) can be set up either as half-open/half-closed back or dual open-back, and the Carvin is more like a "mostly-open" back (panel comes up about halfway).
I bought a shelving unit that can hold up to 1500lbs (300lb per shelf) and all my heads are stacked there.
An industrial-style shelf unit would be nice, like this:
http://www.amazon.com/UR1836-Industrial-Boltless-Shelving-Capacity/dp/B003GZQYAG
but I'm looking at the feet of it, though they do appear to be folded under rather than just bare-corner angle-iron. Nice for concrete in a warehouse, but I don't have concrete floors. I suppose I could drop a sheet of plywood under it, or maybe some small thick pads. If the feet are drilled, I could mount pads. Hmmm. Definitely a contender.
I was also looking at this:
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/acce...0-2-tier-double-braced-x-style-keyboard-stand
As I'm already cramped for space, and would need the head stand to be fairly portable (or at least easy to move). Most of the 2-tier KB stands I've looked at are made so the top tier leans forward, except this one.
The weight limits are the big concern, of course. It says the bottom tier can hold 150 lbs, which is of course not an issue, but it says the top tier can hold 50 lbs, and Mesa's specs say the Triple Rectifier head weighs 48 lbs unboxed while AMS says the JCM800 2203 ReIssue weighs 41 lbs (mines an older 2203 though, so could be more or less).
That's a bit close to the stated limit of the stand's top tier, especially for prolonged use. Even worse IMO would be moving them on a regular basis as you get the stress of flexing the arms taking it off and putting it on the stand. Not that it's going to be moved daily; maybe once or twice a month.
