Staple P-90

Finally getting around to installing a new neck pickup in my les paul, and I was wondering if anyone had tried the SD Staple P-90 from the custom shop? I have a gibson p90 in the bridge from a 60s sg tribute and I want something different in the neck to compliment it.

Re: Staple P-90

the staple is a great neck pup, didnt love it in the bridge but i was wonderful in the neck. the only issue is that it is very deep with those bar magnet pole pieces so id measure to see if itll fit without routing

Re: Staple P-90

Only played one for about 5 mins, and it wasn't my guitar, but yeah- it seems like it would be deep. Not an issue on a hollowbody, but maybe on an LP. If you are worried about the depth, maybe the Custom Shop can alter the design to fit better in an LP.

Re: Staple P-90

I played a Custom R4 a few years back with a Gibson staple, and it was the best Woman Tone I ever heard from a neck pickup. If the SD version is true to an original, you will not be disappointed.

Re: Staple P-90

Looked up a few measurements. It would require some routing, as this is just a goldtop and the neck is the stock epiphone p90. I have a dremel & router so I may be able to pull it off.

Re: Staple P-90

As long as you have enough room (and the skills) to do it, I think it would be a worthy investment. Those are pretty special sounding pickups.

Re: Staple P-90

I have a tele with a staple in the neck. The rout needs to be deepened but nothing major.
