View attachment 37280View attachment 37281View attachment 37282View attachment 37283 I did a quick mock up today just to see how it may look. I have yet to do final wet sand/buffing and tru oil the neck. But now Im thinking that neck might look too light with that body...what you guys think? amber dye the neck then tru oil or leave it that light?
Leave the neck as is for now, you can always deal with it later.
In the meantime, you will LOVE the feel of the satin finish!!
Can't remember if you mentioned it earlier, but what pickups are going in?

IMG_1467.jpgIMG_1477.jpg ahh too late. I added a bit of color tonight. It was just looking too Ghost rider white for me. So I added a touch of amber. As for pickups I want some p90 or p90ish pups. Problem with that is finding them in a normal tele style so I dont have to route out the body. As it sits Im strongly considering a set of Rio Grande Dirty Harry. now, in all honestly the Jerry donahue is still on the list as possible options too. I play alot of southern rock and classic rock so Im open to suggestions if anyone has any.

Looking great ... the neck will darken with age, particularly if you keep the guitar out of the case.

You've probably got this covered, but just in case ... don't forget to run a ground wire from the control cavity to sit under the bridge plate before you screw it down, so the bare wire gets squashed between the bottom of the plate and the top of the body.

Might want to have a look at aset of Tapped Quarter pounders. Rudeness of a P90 and tamed when tapped.
The amber tint on the neck looks better already BTW. I take it from the holes on the back of the headstock
that you're going for Fender or Schaller tuners?

I have some american fender tuners to go on it. (non locking) Ill look into the tapped quarter pounders. yeah i knew about the ground wire. Ive seen some tele with a hole specifically for this and others without it. I guess it would be good just running it up threw pickup holes and to back of the bridge

IMG_1547.jpgIMG_1550.jpg I tell ya waiting is the hardest part of this process. I did take a couple pics of it laid out after putting the amber on the neck. I think it look much better than it did before.

Re: starting a new build: Pine body telecaster with a curly maple top

On my Tele, I grounded the bridge plate to the control plate by glueing aluminum foil to the back of the pickguard and let it extend under both plates. On my Tele the pickguard came right up next to the bridgeplate and control plate so it didn't show at all.

You can easily run a wire (an inch of stripped wire) under the bridgeplate, throught the pup rout, through the pup wire hole to control cavity, then to the back of a pot. Doesn't need to be soldered to the back of the bridgeplate if it's long enough (at least an inch) and right under one of the screw holes. Works great and doesn't show.

By the way...the amber neck looks MUCH better than natural, imo.

Nice job so far.

Arrrgh. You're making me feel very, very lazy. I keep saying that I need warmer weather to make progress on my numerous projects, but I'm just makig excuses.

Great job btw.

Its understandable. Ive had ALOT of rain here the last little bit and its making it hard for me to get this one finished up. However Im considering selling this body and starting over with a humbucker routed body ala Cabronita style. Im a woman I change my mind often. LOL
