Have a new American fender deluxe strat HSS

What are the recommended height for the pickups (HSS).
Heights for high and low


I have seen the Fender recommendations and have also read a lot of varied opinions regarding their setup.

All suggestions will be greatly appreciated

im not trying to sound facetious, but the best thing is just to use your ears.
Too close and you will notice string pull.
Higher = punchier, more immediate and louder.
Lower = sweeter, more forgiving and more sustain.

are the Fender recommendations close
I DO NOT pretend to know much about this process and frankly cannot afford to pay a luthier or shop to do it

Start with the Fender recommendations and go from there.

When in doubt, I start with the pickup reasonably close to the strings.

Play each string individually, then lower the pick ups (either treble side, bass side or both) in small increments. Repeat until desired sound or "sweet spot". From there play for a while. Re-adjust only if necessary. Adjust pole pieces to fine tune.
