Static noise when I play hard on certain notes.

In two of the five positions on my Strat I get a crinkly static noise whenever I play hard on the treble side strings from around the 4th fret to the 9th. What is this noise and how can I fix it?

Have you tried lowering the pickups? If they're too close to strings it can cause that.

What positions are noisy?

Are the strings fretting out? Action too low?
Back bow in the neck?
Is a fret lifting out of the slot?
Treble side of the bridge too low?
High E nut slot too deep?

Sounds like it could be a bad solder joint somewhere.

Ahhh....I missed where he said 2 of the 5 positions. I skimmed through too quickly.
In that case it does sound like an electrical issue.
