*steps back* WTF?

Re: *steps back* WTF?

Yeah, it's like modding your amp for higher gain without actually modding it. I know some people who swear by them in JCM800's!

Re: *steps back* WTF?

I wonder if it'd work in my classic 50? hahaha

*Edit* Nope, only works on single channel amps.

actually, the classic 50 is single channel. The gain "channel" just adds another gain stage over the clean channel.

So it'd work in my amp? If so i'll look around for one. It's a wee bit expensive, but it might be a good investment if I'm wanting more gain. This amp has tons of clean headroom, so I should be fine.

Re: *steps back* WTF?

The ONLY reason I don't think it would work is, my amp has a steel tub made to fit JUST 12ax7's but not only that, but the hotmod is 3 diode. a 12ax7 is 2 diode I believe. So when switching channels wouldn't that take the balance away and cause one channel not to work?

Or... Logic tells me that.

anybody try one of those things with a BF Fender?

This is exactly why Soldano stopped making them, in the Q&A he stated it's made for Marshall amps. My guess is that a lot of people thought it would hotrod other amps and when it didn't work there must have been confusion as to whether the product worked, lots of headaches etc.

I don´t swear by them, but they really do sound good in single channel Marshalls, not just 800s... the 900 Lead Mk. II and 900 SL-X for example also sound much better with one of these in them... ;)

+1... too many idiots that couldn´t read instructions caused Soldano too many headaches, put it in a single channel Marshall or please don´t buy it ;)
