stock pots in a jackson soloist?

Re: stock pots in a jackson soloist?

which soloist are ya talkin' about? if it's HH or HSH, then it's probably 500k. HSS, then it's probably 250k.

Re: stock pots in a jackson soloist?

you have to be careful with pots. sometimes a swap is great... sometimes it gets muddy.. or harsh.

Re: stock pots in a jackson soloist?

the easiest way to answer this question would be to remove the four screws holding your control cavity closed, open your control cavity, read the inscription on the back of the pots, and let us know if they say 500K or 250K.

I have to disagree and I am talking to Fender on this, the Wiring diagram show a 500k volume and 250k tone, but when I actually mesured the resistance across the pots with an ohm meter , they both read 250k. Fender sent me the wiring diagram and it shows 500k volume but I have to differ on this, they are two 250k pots. I have a less than year old USA SL1 HSS.

What do the stampings on the backs of the pots say?

Re: stock pots in a jackson soloist?

USA models (SL1, SL2H) use CTS pots; imports tend to use genuine whatever® brand.

Re: stock pots in a jackson soloist?

I been planning on taking a look inside the Control Cavity of the '88 I just picked up. Mine certainly isn't bright sounding but rather meaty, beaty, big, and, bouncy!!!

Re: stock pots in a jackson soloist?

My 2005 sl1 came with 500 alphas

My 2006 SL2HT came with a 500k CTS volume and 250k CTS tone. Jackson used to specify CTS on their website, but I'm not seeing any sign of it now. So it looks like they're messing with me. They will probably sneak in while I'm at work and change them out to Bourns, just for that full-on horror movie effect.
