Isn't that what the fret markers along the neck binding are for?SO until Covids, I was still doing tours and gigging -and I'm sure you know that the fretboard view and angle and arm angle changes when you sit down from standing with the weight on a strap... so I always rehearse standing up to get as perfect of muscle memory as possible so I don't have to look at my instrument often -so I think playing from a chair can kind of mess up performing
BUT for writing I prefer siting down and being closer to the fretboard for some reason -and I'd vote drum throne with a back as the best option.
