Storing/using a 2-12 combo on its side

Is there any harm in setting a combo up such that its side is on the floor instead of the normal bottom? I'm not a huge fan of the space a 2-12" takes up, and I'm wondering if anyone uses them on their sides with any problems? Perhaps a ss would do better than a tube amp? Heck, come to think of it, I've seen tubes in amps that are parallel with the ground, hanging upside down, and rightside up. Other than the strange appearance, what's the harm?

I've done it and it won't harm the cabinet in anyway...

Re: Storing/using a 2-12 combo on its side

The old Marshall MV combos were the same heads mounted face up on the combo cab. I don't recall anyone talking about a whole lot of problems- and it seems that would be an issue- just make sure you've got adequate ventilation.

The only affect is that you'll have less bass and keep ventilation in mind like the golden boy said.

Re: Storing/using a 2-12 combo on its side

thanks y'all. i would have thought that some components may be more apt to shake loose if the whole shebang is on its ear, but i guess they're all soldered and attached pretty well anyway, so...

Bear in mind that gain is heavy, so the bottom speaker will sound more distorted than the top one.

Would you like to buy some distortion strings? I'll take them off my guitar and sell them to you at half price! :laugh2: :chairfall

i actually thought about that for a minute. maybe if i turn an amp over, my riffs will come out backwards.
