Strap Lock

Mine already has the pegs neccesary for it, and I want to use the same strap. So can I just put strap locks into my strap by buying them off eBay? Can I do it myself? Or do I have to buy a special strap? Thanks.

Re: Strap Lock

nah you can do it yourself, its easy. dunlop or schaller? i have both, prefer the schallers but both work well

Re: Strap Lock

installing them should be fairly easy and it's worth the money, but if you want a little more exotic looks try the q-parts straplocks with the special mounting rings on the straps.

Re: Strap Lock

He meant Dunlop or Schaller locks. Both are nice... the Dunlops can be recessed because they lock by inserting a pin into the button. Makes for a nice classy look but is tough to do on the upper horn. Also requires a 25/64" hole with countersink in your guitar. They were not designed to be recessed, but it can be done.

The Schallers are going to be the easiest replacement to a Fender Strat. It's simply a matter of unscrewing the old bottons and screwing in the new buttons using the same scerw holes.

Re: Strap Lock

I'm pretty sure that the straplock systems that Fender is selling are actually the Schaller models. I've ordered 2 sets from Fender so far, and they're the same thing as the Schaller locks I've had before.

Re: Strap Lock

yeah, schaller security locks rock. never loose your guitar any more during gig.
Looks kinda stupid if you play air guitar on stage (unless it's air guitar world championship)

Ahh, so all I need are the Schaller thingies to go in the strap?

Yes, you can either buy the Fender ones or the Schaller models. They'll probably include the strap buttons for the guitar, but you can save those for the next guitar that you get. The system bolts onto the strap itself.

Re: Strap Lock

I've done it to all my guitars. You can use any strap you want. I think it's a great move and really protects your guitar. Straps can slip pretty easily from a standard post.
