I use both with no problems, but you'll need to make sure that you choose a brand that will replace the current strap buttons with no modifications. The Dunlop and Schaller buttons are a different size, so you might want to check with the guitar manufacturer to see which brand will fit.
I've had three sets of Dunlops (on 2 guitars and 3 basses), and have used them for about 2 1/2 years. They've never failed, never given out, and have always stayed put. I'd reccomend them greatly.
I love the Schallers--have them on all my guitars. I have a great custom strap and they are really easy to switch from one to the other quickly. As a matter of fact, my strap is on the Mosby website here:
Anyone know where you can get just the Schaller buttons without the whole contraption? I love these things but after dropping $235+ for my strap, I'd like to avoid dropping $20 every time I need buttons for a new guitar.

THe Dunlops are better if you want to recess them (á la Warwick basses) or if you have a tendency to forget your strap. For all other purposes, I prefer the Schallers.
And I can get you a set of buttons next time I order parts if you want, jpage. Although they arent the original Schaller buttons, but "compatible" ones that make it possible to forget your strap and use another
