SCHALLER!!

simply put they're the best. You will never regret having Schaller strap locks (and several US Strats and Carvin guitars , and US Kramers come with them, can you say compatibility?)

On a Flyin' V with the location of the strap-button on the tail of that guitar, I'd go with Schaller's (although I couldn't find Schaller strap-locks at Musician's Friend, I used "Schaller" as a search and did find them now being sold by Fender....wonder if Fender bought out Schaller?....http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7.../s=accessories/search/detail/base_pid/420534/), I haven't used DiMarzio's. Dunlop's might put too much leverage on that wing down on the tail. Plus, I tried 'em on my SG with the strap-button located at the base of the neck like the V, and the Dunlop lock stuck out too far for me, made it uncomfortable. So I used the Schaller on that axe and it's more comfortable. I use and like the Dunlop strap-locks on my Strats and Les Paul guitars, though. They release easier than the Schaller's do.
Just my opinion.

Re: Straplocks - what should i get?

I use the Dimarzio's, they work. You'd have to get used to the seatbelt material, as you probably already know, as it slides around easier.

Re: Straplocks - what should i get?

my schallers more out a bit quick for my liking. the pin on the clip side wore away so the straps just fell off.

i'll get some more though. eventually. gaffa tape is doing me fine at the moment.

Re: Straplocks - what should i get?

wanna know a secret? safety pins work just as well, you can either put them over the knob, or thru the strap right above where the knob comes out, the trick is finding the right sized pin tho, it varies from guitar to guitar

How about a set of these? Your strap will have to break before your guitar will ever fall off....

:headbang:

No offense... bu that's the ugliest strat I've ever seen.... ahwell, to each his own.

Here's what ya do... alight? Get the Schallers.... I've never had one fail on me, but once... when the strap was too thick for the nut to properly clamp onto, then my bass fell. But, that was user error.

Yeah. It is.

I like showing it off because it drives guitar purists up the wall.

Re: Straplocks - what should i get?

I'll second, third, or forth the Schallers. I've got a set on my strat and they work great. I might grab some of those little black plastic things you can get a guitar stores now for some of my other axes. They just slide down over the nob and then you twist them and they 'lock' on. Cheap and easy, just the way I like it!

Re: Straplocks - what should i get?

schaller! dunlops have a greater tendency to rip out chunks of wood.

Dunlop's have been with me since day 1, and never failed me.

it still happens more with them though (probably from forcing it out)

Re: Straplocks - what should i get?

I've used both Dunlop and Schaller.

Dunlop:

Pros: push it in, click it's there

Cons: screws work loose, rip wood out, peg sticks out too far from body, puts holes on insides of cases, god forbid you have a guitar like a V where the strap peg is on the back of the guitar, it'll poke you hard every time. ALSO because they push in to release if you hit something on the end, they will pop right out.

Schaller:

Pros: Super high quality construction and ingenious design, even if the release is pulled by accident, the guitar won't drop unless you pull the strap off the button, awesome. It won't release unless you want it to.

Cons: None so far. I can't say anything bad about them.

Dunlop: they are okay at best

Schaller: these things are awesome

Re: Straplocks - what should i get?

this reassures me as I'm purchasing two sets tomorrow when the shops open again :D
