Strat body bar code

I recently bought a MIM Fender Strat body with no hardware. Inside the control cavity there's a bar code / serial number taped to the bottom of the cavity. I bought the body from 'the Stratosphere' on eBay (great transaction). I just looked at another identical body on eBay from that seller and it also has this.

Does this come with the body from the factory or do you think it was added by the eBay seller. It looks like part of the paint covers the sticker along the edge so I'm assuming it came from the factory. If so, is it the body's serial number because it is different from the number in the neck pocket. Thanks.

Re: Strat body bar code

A lot of the MIM bodies sold by this Stratosphere Ebay guy have that bar code sticker.

I doubt that the number has anything to do with the serial number.

^ Yea. I'm just wondering if this is on all MIM strats or if it's Stratosphere's internal tracking system.

I was looking through a lot of his bodies when you brought the bar codes up. It's the MIM ones that I noticed the bar codes on.

I don't think it's a Stratosphere thing. Looks more like a MIM factory thing to me.

Re: Strat body bar code

So it appears to be a factory thing. That's nice to know. Anyone know why? If not, I'm going to send an email to Fender asking them. I'm just curious, that's all.

My 2006 USA Malmsteen strat has one of those stickers- but it's located in the middle pickup cavity route. I forget if my 99 Clapton has one. It is a factory sticker.
