Strat Copies better then the originals

Re: Strat Copies better then the originals

Most suggestions seem to be ignoring the fact that the OP is located in Australia. Itsabass, I don't think international customers can even order custom G&L's. If you can they'll still be more expensive than you or I could get them for.

I don't see how it would be any different than getting any other guitar brand in Australia. You just go to a dealer and order what you want. Or order through a U.S.A. dealer and simply pay a higher shipping charge. I can highly recommend Upfront Guitars, for one.

Checked out Upfront Guitars while surfing (because of this post). Whew, talk about impressive. Good prices, and great choice of guitars - personal website with some meaningful descriptions, comments, views/pics, the works. Simple but clear, and can't miss what appear to be some of the lowest prices out there. Maybe I'm the last to know......if anyone else hasn't checked out their site I agree, great recommendation and glad you shared this info!

Glad you liked them. I've had two absolutely outstanding experiences with that guy. And probably some time next year, I am gonna have him custom order that purple guitar for me. He's very nice, very easy to work with, and very reasonably priced.

Re: Strat Copies better then the originals

in australia, in addition to the price of the instrument, we pay 5% import tax on anything over a thousand, so that would make the instrument 1050, then we add postage (lucky if we can get it to be 250 bucks) which makes it 1300, then add 10% GST, so 1430 is the end result for a thousand buck guitar.

USA Hamer Daytona

this would be my first suggestion. the aren't made any more but can be had for less than a grand. great woods and craftsmanship. they made alder and ash varietys with maple necks or rw boards and a few different colors. they aren't perfect fender copies but they are a strat for sure. sperzel tuners and Wilkinson trem are nice hardware and easy to swap out if you want more traditional hardware. mine is routed sss so if you want something besides that you should maybe look else where

Re: Strat Copies better then the originals

At one stage - I guess during the 90s - I understand ESP had a reputation for building great strats and I imagine they´d be easier to pick up second hand over your way than most US models.

I´m not sure how their current models are rated but I imagine the ESP models (as against the LTD) are still pretty well respected.

Fender w/Birdseye Maple Neck.
Dr.Vegetables right..G&L for traditional Strat. "Super Strat" I like Jackson..Great Fast Necks

IMO...the Quality of the Amp should equal the Quality of the Guitar..best of both..

ESP Vintage Plus, i think, was the name? AmDlx killer... Terrifyingly cool, whole different level than any production Fender. Craaaaaazy awesome, and hey, I dont even LIKE sss vintage style strats.

New ~1500, 1100 used GC, 900 used from people in cali

....BUT, for Oz, shipping from Japan is easier. And cheaper. And their used prices are better. So, might squeeze it into ~1000 - 1200

There are lots of great Fender Strats out there, the others may be great but they are not Strats :7: BUT seriously, just play a whole bunch of Strats...the guitar will tell you which is best. My favorite Strat? A '96 MIM Traditional Series, a lower priced Strat with Squier hardware. Except for the tuners it is the best Strat I have ever played. And I don't worry about tuners because I usually get locking tuners anyway. The neck is absolutely amazing!
This be it:

Re: Strat Copies better then the originals

If you have a 1000 dollar budget, what is wrong with a good Fender American Standard? Nice necks, good pickups, stable trem, vintage saddles, good tuners...

Re: Strat Copies better then the originals

My favorite Fenders are my MIJ Fenders. The MIJ Fernandez guitars came from the same factory, if I'm not mistaken. You gotta like small frets, though.
