strat with balls

Re: strat with balls

Well I have a noiseless strat setup of the following:

Neck - Classic Stack + Neck

Middle - Classic Stack + Bridge

Bridge - Lil 59 Bridge

I've also added a push/pull pot on volume to turn the bridge pickup on at anytime. So you get Neck/Bridge and you get all three Neck/Middle/Bridge sounds.

Re: strat with balls

if what he's gonna play is that then id suggest SSS, but then thats just me. texas specials are incredible, but he's in the same predicament i was in for quite a while...i wanted noiseless. hmmm ive been told kinmans are pretty great so maybe he has a set that has that SRV sort of thing going on...or a DiMarzio Area '6somthin said that it worked for that..but the Texas Specials are awesome, but not noiseless...sux to be us

Re: strat with balls

Just be sure to stick a lil59 in there. It may not suit your 'balls' view but it's still one hell of a pickup :)

I will agree with you on that one. As I've paired it with the Classic Stack +, to give you traditional strat and then the balls of the lil59....

Re: strat with balls

Hi everyone,
As far as size of the testicles, I think he's interested in a bit more drive/cutting ability, but still strat like. Nothing too heavy.

I've played a lil 59 (in a mustang) and I agree its great. But now, a full 59 or a ll 59 in the bridge? If I go with the full 59, should I wire a split? should I go with stk4's in the neck and bridge. or another 59?

Thanks for all the ideas/opions.
m.

Re: strat with balls

For blues he will probably want a stratty single coil voicing in the neck position.

I like to have full size bridge humbuckers in fat strats, but by going with a single coil size, it leaves the option of going back to true single coil voiced bridge pickup, should he want that, without changing pick guards.
