Stratocasters just don't do metal!

Re: Stratocasters just don't do metal!

Cliff Burton played a Rick, but that's not what you're talking about, is it?

Then, there's this. Not very metal, even in my estimation.

MONARCH.jpg

OK- let me clarify- Rickenbaker GUITARS. Rickenbaker makes some fine basses that have been used throughout metal, as evidenced by Cliff Burton and Lemmie Kilmeister, and probably many others.

Archtop jazz guitars, no. Except Ted Nugent gets some heavy tones from a Gibson Byrdland, but that's not metal enough

Re: Stratocasters just don't do metal!

Can we start a list of things that aren't metal?

- If your guitar has a wooden bridge, you might not be metal.

- If your guitar has single-coil pickups, you might not be metal. Might.

- If the only pickup on your guitar is mounted to the fingerboard, you might not be metal.

- If your guitar has a Bigsby, you might not be metal.

- If your guitar has a built-in amplifier, you might not be metal.

- If your guitar has a B-bender, you might not be metal.

- If your guitar has a slotted headstock, you might not be metal.

- If your guitar has unpotted, scatter-wound pickups, you might not be metal.

- If your guitar has a trapeze-style tailpiece, you might not be metal.

- If your guitar came with a folding metal footrest, you might not be metal.

uggum uggum fag uggum uggum blah

actually listen to testeagles' guitar tone before you condemn. i don't know if he's gay or not, but doubt that would affect his metal-ness.

and dude, kerry king's the guy with the goatee, the shaved head and tight leather everything... just sayin...

Re: Stratocasters just don't do metal!

Re: Stratocasters just don't do metal!

It just won't, will it? :9:

This is where someone should use the zombie thread pic but now for another set of reasons...

Re: Stratocasters just don't do metal!

I play nothing but Fender Strats and I'm a hardcore 80's Hair Metal fan who has absolutely no problem getting the sound that I want with my Strats. I believe it's the mentality of some of these younger players who are brainwashed into believeing that you can only get a metal tone from plating either Ibanez's or Jacksons. If take a Strat and plug it into a Marshall ,like the guys in Judas Priest did back in the British Steel days, you got your metal sound right there!

Re: Stratocasters just don't do metal!

This thread had gotten to the point of idiocy.

- If your guitar has a Bigsby, you might not be metal.

Although I'd tend to agree, the Starla, Bigsby and all, will def do metal. ;)

Now, can a moderator close this thing??..PLEASE? :banghead:
