i want to switch from ernie ball super slinkys
(.009, .011, .016, .024, .032, .042)

to

ernie ball hybrid slinkys
(.009, .011, .016, .026, .036, .046)

i know i'll probably have to adjust the floyd rose but is the gauge
switch enough to effect the truss rod?

Re: String gauge and truss rod?

it will put a little more tension on the neck so you might have a touch more relief but thats not a very big jump. do it and see what ya think, if it needs an 1/8 of a turn on the truss rod then so be it.

you will totally need to setup your floyd though

Re: String gauge and truss rod?

When I switched from 9-42 to 9-46 I had to setup the Floyd (of course, every gauge change needs a new floyd setup) but not the truss rod. If you'll want to change from 9-46 to 10-46 at some point, like I did recently, you might have to fumble around with the rod a little bit, but not for now.
